Milton Mockerman's Obituary
On Sunday, January 24, 2021, Milton Mockerman, beloved husband and father of four, passed away at the age of 93. Milton “Milt” was born October 6, 1927 in Kalkaska County, MI to Milo and Pearl (Eveland) Mockerman. A WWII Navy veteran aboard the U.S.S Springfield, he dedicated 32 years to the railroad, volunteered as Commander of the local VFW Post, and received his high school diploma from Kalkaska High School at age 91. Milton married the love of his life, Beverly Geraldine Homan, November 7, 1947. Together they raised four children, Karen, Gerald, Mark, and Amy. Milt was a compassionate man, never raising a hand in anger, and constantly filled the house with laughter. His hobbies were an unwavering adornment for his family, his house and yard, playing cards, woodworking, and helping other veterans. He was known for his quick wit, infectious smile, and candid honesty. Milt was preceded in death by his mother and father; brother, Marvin; daughter, Karen; son, Gerald; great-grandson, Doug, and wife of 55 years, Beverly. He is survived by son, Mark and daughter-in-law Marcia Mockerman; daughter, Amy Mockerman-Whipple-Whalen; 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. A CELEBRATION OF HIS LIFE with full military honors and burial at Fruitport Pine Hill Cemetery will be 2:00 PM Friday, June 18, 2021 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444.
