Minnie Barding's Obituary
Mrs. Minnie Barding, age 91, passed away Monday morning at the Harbor Hospice – Poppen Residence following a long illness. Minnie was born in Fremont, MI on February 24, 1918, the second of eight children to Rhin and Jennie (Jordan) Deur. Until her retirement, Mrs. Barding was employed at Brookhaven Care Facility for 25 years as a licensed practical nurse. She was a member of Calvary Church and was a former volunteer at the Muskegon Rescue Mission. Minnie is survived by: son, R. Jean Guikema of Norton Shores; two daughters, Marlene (David) Hunt of Lawton, MI and Rhoda (Tom) Stone of Muskegon; brother, Marvin (Jeanette) Deur of White Cloud; sister, Esther Westra of Pierce City, MO; 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alva in 1976. The funeral service will be held at: The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100, 11:00 A.M., Friday with Rev. Terry Fulk and her grandson, Rev. Don Hunt officiating. Visitation: Thursday, 5-7 P.M. She will be laid to rest in, Maple Grove Cemetery, Fremont. Memorial Contributions: Muskegon Rescue Mission.
