Mollie W. Martin's Obituary
Mrs. Mollie W. Martin, age 82, passed away Thursday, September 7, 2017 in Muskegon. She was born in Noxubee County, Mississippi on January 25, 1935 to Robert and Pearlean (Bush) Burton. She attended Noxubee County one room school, where she finished 8th grade. At an early age, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior, at the First James Creek Baptist Church in Noxubee County Miss. Mother Mollie Martin in 1992 united in marriage to the late Lenard Martin and they joined the Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Dr. V.L. Hannett. They continued to serve under the leadership of Rev. W.L. Butts. She served on the usher board and head of the kitchen committee until she was called to her eternal home. Her grandchildren and great-grands still talk about her fried corn off the cob, sweet potato pie, peach cobbler and the spread she would lay out on the holiday. She leaves to cherish her precious memories, one daughter, Geraldine (Boazie, Jr.) Wynn of Muskegon MI; one sister, Janet Barnes of San Antonio, Texas; one sister-in-law, Essie Martin of Muskegon, MI; three God children, Angela (Geffory) Thomas of White Plains, Maryland, Dorothea Hale and Patricia Musgrove of Muskegon, MI; 12 grandchildren, Boazie (Namoni) Wynn III, Bridget (James) Gilbert of Muskegon, MI., Kimberly Wesley of Los Angeles, CA., Brandon Wynn of Atlanta GA., Kendra (Toni) Terrell, Kim Martin, Tresa (Dexter) Brown of Muskegon, MI, Ruvell (Michelle) Martin Jr. of South Carolina, Cherrie and Derick Martin, and Sheldon Bradford of Milwaukee, WI; 28 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two special first cousins, CJ Jackson of Elgin Ill. and John Bush of Muskegon, MI; four special lifelong friends, Catherine Maybanks, Eristine Brown, Mary Jones, and a Ride or Die Cheryl McKinney; a host of nieces and nephews and the Mount Olive Church Family. Mother Mollie Martin was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two sons, two sisters, one brother, one grandson, two great-great-granddaughters, and one great-great-grandson. SERVICES will be held, Thursday, September 14, 2017, 12:00 noon, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church (2501 8th St, Muskegon, MI 49444) with Rev. Walter Butts presiding. Burial will be in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. MEMORIALS in memory of Mrs. Martin may be directed to Hospice of Michigan.
