Mrs. Molly Smith's Obituary
Mrs. Molly (Martinez) Smith, age 81, passed away Friday, November 9, 2012 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 16, 1931 in Muskegon to Luz and Carmen (Serna) Martinez and was a life resident of the area. On August 27, 1966, she married Edward Lee Smith in Muskegon and he survives her. Prior to her retirement, Molly worked 43 years as a clerk and operator for GTE. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Spring Lake where she volunteered for the funeral luncheons and was a member of the ladies guild. Molly and Lee traveled extensively over the years throughout the United States, Mexico, Canada, and abroad. Molly especially enjoyed time spent with family in Georgia and at home in Muskegon. Molly had a craft for knitting and she found much joy giving her works to family and friends. She was a blessing to many and will be deeply missed. SURVIVORS include her husband, Lee; 7 siblings, Louie Martinez, Theresa Panzero, Mary (Harold) Stoops, Carmen (Frank) Richards, Virginia (Jose) Reyes, Theresa Rivera, Tony Martinez; sister-in-law, Marilyn Martinez; and several nieces and nephews. Molly was preceded in death by her parents, 1 sister, Rosa Varela Bringedahl and 1 brother, Raymond Martinez. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be celebrated 11:00 AM Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Spring Lake with the Rev. Fr. Daniel R. DePew as celebrant. INTERMENT will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery. VISITATION will be held 2-4 and 6-8 PM Monday at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey Street, (231) 798-1100. The Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 PM Monday.
