Morris Vernon Dadd's Obituary
Mr. Morris Vernon “Morrie” Dadd, age 93, passed away Monday, May 6, 2019 at his home in Fruitport Township. He was born in Orleans, MI on September 1, 1925 to Stephen and Vera (Sharp) Dadd. Morrie was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corp. and had served in WWII and Korea. He was an electrical engineer and was employed by General Motors and Sealed Power prior to his retirement in 1985. Morrie was a member of Fruitport First Congregational Church, VFW Post #446, Fruitport Lions Club, and was a former board member for the Fruitport Township Planning Committee. Morrie was a car enthusiast and had built his own “kit” car. He also enjoyed writing poetry, traveling, dancing, and hunting with his sons on his property in Irons, MI. On March 16, 1996, Morrie married the former Madeline M. Hinken in Fruitport and she survives him along with five children, Phillip Dadd, Paul (Patricia) Dadd, Peter (Virgilene) Dadd, Mitchell (Lisa) Dadd, Michael (Heather) Dadd; five step-children, Sandy (Bruce) Scheuneman, Gary (Karen) Hinken, Larry (Christina) Hinken, Debbie (Paul) Hoffman, Doug (Sharon) Hinken; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two former wives, Nancy Dadd and Molly “MaryAnn” Bigelow Dadd; brother, Neil Dadd; and two sisters, Carrie Horling and Jean Dadd. VISITATION will be from 4-7 PM Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at Fruitport First Congregational Church (3212 E. Pontaluna Rd., Fruitport 49415). SERVICES will be 11:00 AM Thursday, May 9, 2019 at Fruitport First Congregational Church with Rev. Michael Scott officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery. MEMORIALS may be directed to Fruitport First Congregational Church.
