Mr. Donald E. Turner's Obituary
Mr. Donald E. Turner, age 79, passed away Thursday, January 6, 2011 in Muskegon. He was born on July 2, 1931 in Muscatine, IA and was raised by his parents, Clyde and Nellie Turner. Don lived most of his life in the Muskegon area and had been employed as a foreman by Grand Haven Cam Cast for 30 years before his retirement. Don enjoyed hunting, fishing, Harley-Davidson motorcycles and in his later years, playing BINGO. On October 5, 1963, Don married the former Josephine A. Slowick and she preceded him in death on June 19, 2009. He is survived by eight children, Linda (Richard) Johnson, Debra (Mike) Yager, LaVern Hooker, Diane (Gary) Turner-Harris, Billy (Alice) Broadbent, David (Judy) Turner, Denise (Chris) Coulter and Donna Houseman; 22 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren and 2 brothers, Ray and Jack Turner. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Tina Broadbent; two sons, Clayton and James Hooker; two brothers and one sister. SERVICES will be 1:00 PM Tuesday at The Sytsema Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Ave. 231-726-5210. VISITATION will be from 2-4 & 6-8 PM Monday. INTERMENT will be in Egelston Township Cemetery. MEMORIALS in Don’s name may be made the American Cancer Society.
