Mr. Earl E. "Gene" Wininger's Obituary
Mr. Earl E. (Gene) Wininger, December 17, 1925 – December 18, 2011. A poem reflecting Mr. Wininiger’s life is titled High Flight by John Gillespie Magee, Jr. - Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of earth, and danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings; Sunward I’ve climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth of sun-split clouds – and done a hundred things you have not dreamed of – wheeled and soared and swung high in the sunlit silence. Hov’ring there, I’ve chased the shouting wind along, and flung my eager craft through footless halls of air. Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue I’ve topped the windswept heights with easy grace where never lark, or even eagle flew. And, while with silent, lifting mind I’ve trod the high untrespassed sanctity fo space, put out my hand, and touched the face of God. Gene loved flying. He flew for Executive Air, and Sealed Power. He was the Chief Pilot for General Telephone for 20 years before retiring. He served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII, along with his four brothers. He was born to Raymond and Irene (McBride) Wininger in Paoli, IN, and they preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife Carol; three daughters, Vicki, Cindy (Richard), Linda (Mark); grandchildren, Alissa (Nate), Erik (Katie); great-granddaughter, Hadley; 1 sister, Patsy. A private family service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church. You may sign the family’s online guestbook at www.sytsemafh.com Arrangements by
