Mr. Fredric A. Grimm, Jr.'s Obituary
Mr. Fredric A. Grimm, Jr., age 70, passed away Monday afternoon, January 26, 2009 at his home. He was born in Chicago on April 2, 1938 to Fredric and Louise Grimm. Fred was a veteran of the United States Navy. He graduated from Muskegon Community College in 1961 and Wayne State University in 1963 with a bachelor’s degree in economics. Fred then attended the University of Michigan and the University of Detroit, receiving his law degree and passing the bar in 1967. He joined the Muskegon County Prosecutor’s office in 1968 and went on to serve 6 terms as the 60th District Court Judge before retiring in 2006. He was passionate about his 35 year career, using his judgeship as a way to help people learn from their mistakes and give them a second chance. Fred was a devoted Catholic, a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, and a faithful blood donor for the American Red Cross. He is survived by his wife Martha and his 4 children, Eric C. Grimm, Kirsten E. Grimm, Teresa A. (Calvin) Stratton and Michael Grimm; 1 grandson, Matteo; 1 brother, John W. Grimm and 2 sisters, Louise M. (Ed) Hall of Sandusky, OH and Christine (Tom) Mallory of Whitehall. He was preceded in death by his parents. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at 11AM Saturday, January 31, 2009 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church (239 West Clay) with Rev. Fr. Jack LaGoe presiding. VISITATION with the family will be 1 hour prior to the service. MEMORIALS in Fred’s name may be made to the American Red Cross or the Abbey of Gethsemane, 4642 Monks Road, Trappist, KY 40051.
