Mr. Glen Edwin Hoffman's Obituary
Mr. Glen E. Hoffman, age 89, passed away Monday evening, July 4, 2005 in Muskegon. He was born in Newaygo County on May 1, 1916 to Ernest and Agnes (Fortin) Hoffman, and had been a resident of Muskegon for his adult life. He was employed by S.D. Warren for 41 years before retiring in 1978. After retiring from S.D. Warren, he worked as a security guard at Kaydon Corporation. Glen was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the South Pacific. He received numerous medals, including the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, and the Oak Leaf Cluster. He was a member of Grand Haven Gospel Chapel where he was active in Church Bible Study. He enjoyed gardening, bird watching, and coin collecting. On August 21, 1946, he married the former Lucille “Cookie” VanderKooi, and she survives him along with 4 children, Glenn (Evva) Hoffman, Gary (Jeril) Hoffman, LueAnne (David) Bond, Cindy (Tim) Alicki; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Robert (Marilyn) Hoffman; and 1 sister, Anna Young. He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 daughter, Carol Hoffman; 2 grandchildren, Jonathan and Debbie; and 2 brothers, Oscar and Vincent Hoffman. SERVICES will be 11AM Friday at Grand Haven Gospel Chapel (1805 Waverly) with Rev. Ken Shady and Mr. Robert Foutz officiating. VISITATION will be 6-8PM Thursday at Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 737 Apple Ave., 231-726-5210 and 10-11AM Friday at church. INTERMENT will take place in Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
