Mr. Gordon L. DeWall's Obituary
Mr. Gordon L. DeWall, age 64, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, November 12, 2005 while enjoying the beauty of God’s world. He was born February 6, 1941 to Cornelius H. and Kathryn (Poel) DeWall in Muskegon, and was a lifelong resident of the Muskegon and Spring Lake areas. Mr. DeWall was a graduate of Calvin College and earned his Ph.D from the University of Michigan. He was a chemist and served in management for Burdick and Jackson for many years before retiring in 1998. Gord was an active member of Ferrysburg Community Church, volunteered at Grace Youth Camp, and was a founder of Camp Anew, a camp for children experiencing grief. He was a leader for ToughLove and a mentor for Kid’s Hope. On August 7, 1963 he married Joan Donseler. SURVIVORS include his wife, Joan of Spring Lake; 2 children, Mark (Jean) DeWall of Holland, Laura (Robert) Butrick of Norton Shores; 2 grandsons, Brandon and Reece; his mother, Kathryn DeWall of Muskegon; his mother-in-law, Miriam Donseler of FL; 3 sisters, Marilou Kratzenstein of CA, Kay (Don) Slater of Spring Lake, Sheryl (Dan) Beerens of Holland; 10 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Brian in 1997, and his father, Casey in 1987. SERVICES will be 1:00 PM Thursday at Ferrysburg Community Church, 17785 Mohawk Dr., with Pastor Nate Visker officiating. VISITATION at
