Mr. Herbert Sydney Mackenzie's Obituary
Mr. Herbert Sydney Mackenzie, age 97, of Muskegon, passed away Friday evening, March 11, 2011 in Grand Haven. He was born in Albany, NY on June 15, 1913 to Samuel and Delores (Hoyt) Mackenzie and had lived in the Muskegon area since he was a child. Mr. Mackenzie was retired from Muskegon Screw Works and was a very active charter member of Cloverville Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, camping and the outdoors. On November 19, 1941, Herbert married his loving wife of 69 years, the former Virginia DeCoster, and she preceded him in death on January 18, 2011. He is survived by 3 sons, Robert (Nancy) Mackenzie of Holland, Patrick (Thelma) Mackenzie of Muskegon, Herbert “Sam” (Shellie) Mackenzie of N. Muskegon; 2 daughters, Midge Kesckes of CA and Ann (Thomas) Woodin of Fruitport; 18 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Kenneth Mackenzie of Muskegon and 1 sister, Norma DeCoster of Muskegon. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth “John” Mackenzie and 1 sister, Gwen Ward. SERVICES will be 2:30 PM Tuesday at
