To the family of John Lehan,

I only knew John across the counter at the Camera Shop and have missed his presence there...I am sad at his passing. He was a gentleman, an attentive minder of the store and so very very helpful in every way. I was always struck by the many who waited for his help. When he was helping you, his full attention was on the customer's needs and concerns. He was one of a kind. I will remember him fondly always and I wish comfort to his family and friends.

I worked at the Camera Shop shortly after graduating from High School and I worked closely with John,he was the greatest man I ever met. Everyone that came into the Camera Shop ask for him because of his vast knowledge, he remembered everyone's face, names and made everyone feel the same. John sold me my first Pentax K-1000 several years ago. He was the only one I truly trusted with my camera. He was always very patient with me and had a warmth about him that I will miss. I only found out today that he passed away when I brought my camera from VA to here for him to look at. I knew John since 1968, as a customer of his at the Camera Shop. I always enjoyed his quiet manner, and helpful suggestions. I did not know him outside of the store, but counted him as a good friend.

I also knew his nephew David (I think..) Rogers in Kalamazoo. I lived next door to him in 1972-1973. We were all students at WMU. I wonder where he and his wife are today.

My deepest sympathizes to all of the family and friends.

My deepest sympathies to Mary, Craig and Genia. John was known by thousands at the Camera Shop. His wealth of knowledge in the photography field, and exemplary Customer Care he extended will never be forgotten. It was a privilege to work with him. He taught me a lot about photography. Every camera I owned, I bought through him. He assisted me in getting my darkroom(s) together in the past. It is a sad loss for Muskegon, as there will never be another "John at the Camera Shop." He will be deeply missed. The Lehan family is in my thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.
