Mr. Mark D. Strate's Obituary
Mr. Mark Douglas Strate, age 83, passed away Saturday morning, October 11, 2008 at a local nursing home. He was born in Fairmont, WV on October 24, 1924 to Walter and Ruth (Musgrove) Strate and had lived in Muskegon for most of his life. Mr. Strate was a Veteran of the United States Air Force having served in WWII. After his service to his country, Mark was employed by Consumers Power for 28 years as a meter supervisor. He then went to work for Reeths Puffer Schools for 7 years before his retirement in 1986. Mark enjoyed fishing and making polished stone jewelry. He was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church and the Don Rea VFW Post #8846. On September 5, 1947, he married the former Mary Louise Hallstrand and she survives him along with 2 children, Marcia Strate of Kailua Kona, HI and David (Cathy) Strate of Muskegon; 2 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Donna Strate. The MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be celebrated at 11AM Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church with Rev.
