Mr. Peter L. Miel's Obituary
Mr. Peter Lloyd Miel, age 85, passed away Sunday morning, November 12, 2006. He was born in Muskegon to John and Helena (Koehler) Miel on May 31, 1921, and had been a resident of the area for most of his life. Mr. Miel was a Veteran of the United States Army and had served in North Africa, Italy, and the Philippines during WWII. He retired from Continental Motors in 1983 after 20 years of employment. Mr. Miel had also previously been employed by Modern Methods, Shaw Box Crane, Johnson Products and Camshaft Specialties. He was a member of Evanston Avenue Baptist Church where he was a past Sunday School Superintendent and was a past song leader at Covenant Baptist Church. Mr. Miel loved to travel, camp, garden and make musical instruments. He enjoyed construction and put his talents to use building for Habitat for Humanity. On June 10, 1942, Peter married the former Mary Ann Lindenau and she survives him along with 7 children, Jerry (Shirley) Miel, Tuscon, AZ, Alberta (Jon) Dalke, St. Petersburg, FL, Beverly (Jim) Stone, Manistee, MI, Dan (Carol) Miel, Spokane, WA, Jim (Carrie) Miel, Grand Haven, MI, Dale Miel, Ann Arbor, MI, Rhoda Miel, Ann Arbor, MI; 19 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; 1 brother, Lawrence (Betty) Miel; 1 sister, Helen Stubelt and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Gardner; his parents; 2 brothers, John and Carl Miel and 7 sisters, Grace, Florence, Leona, Jeanette, Doris, Carol, and Mary. SERVICES for Mr. Miel will be held 1PM Wednesday at Evanston Avenue Baptist. VISITATION will be 2-4PM & 6-8PM Tuesday at
