Mrs. Grace Nelson's Obituary
Mrs. Grace Nelson, age 94, passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2015 in Muskegon. She was born on May 4, 1920 in Muskegon to Jacob and Elizabeth (VanderWier) Scholtens, and resided in the area all of her life. Grace was a member of Beacon Light Community Church, and enjoyed gardening, reading, shopping, Detroit Tigers baseball, and crafting, but most of all she loved her family and they always came first. On October 25, 1941 she married Gordon Nelson, and he preceded her in death on May 4, 1982. SURVIVORS include 3 children, Rod (Pam) Nelson, Sheryl Nelson and Kristi Nelson all of Muskegon; 2 granddaughters, Sherrene (Bear) and Megan; and 2 great grandchildren, Jonathan and Aleah. Grace was also preceded in death by her son, Stephen; and 4 siblings, Robert, George, Marion and Berdean. The FUNERAL SERVICE will be 2 PM Tuesday, January 6 at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Ave., (231) 726-5210 with Phil Grossenbacher and Pastor Aaron Gregory officiating. VISITATION with the family will be 5-8 PM Monday and 1-2PM Tuesday prior to the service. Burial will take place in Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
