Mrs. Bernice V. DeBoef's Obituary
Mrs. Bernice V. DeBoef, age 92, passed away Saturday evening, December 25, 2010 at her home. She was born February 24, 1918 to Clell and Trucie (Priest) Beals in Fife Lake, Kalkaska Co., MI and lived most of her life in the Muskegon area. She graduated from the Hackley School of Nursing, class of 1940, and worked as an RN at Hackley Hospital for over 20 years. She later worked at the Sutter Memorial Hospital in Sacramento, CA before retiring. Mrs. DeBoef was a member of Wolf Lake Baptist Church. When she was able, she was active in the Ladies Mission, taught Sunday school and belonged to the bowling league at the church. On July 25, 1941 she married Clarence P. DeBoef, and he preceded her in death on March 28, 1985. SURVIVORS include her son, Clarence L. DeBoef of Norton Shores; sisters-in-law, Marion DeBoef of Muskegon, Ann Goulet of Coal Valley, IL and Marilyn Beals of Kalkaska; several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by 4 brothers, Merrill, Gayl, Earl, and Derel Beals. SERVICES will be 11:00 AM Wednesday at The Sytsema Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Ave. (231) 726-5210. VISITATION will be from 6-8 PM Tuesday evening and 1 hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
