Mrs. Cleo Mae Smith's Obituary
Mrs. Cleo Mae Smith, age 87, passed away Sunday evening, October 9, 2011 at the Lakeshore Assisted Living Center. Cleo was born January 27, 1924 in Dixon, IL to Claude and Mae (MacDonald) Daugherty. On January 1, 1942 she married Harry Smith in Muskegon, and he preceded her in death on January 12, 1993. Cleo had worked for a time at Gardner-Denver and Atco Rubber Products prior to her retirement. During her lifetime she enjoyed working with crafts and loved sewing. Most of all, Cleo loved being a mother and grandmother to her daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Cleo is survived by her 4 daughters, Barbara (Jerry) Clack of Jonesboro, GA, Jane (Matt) Wipperfurth of Spring Lake, Susan (Ed) Miller of Irons, MI, and Norma (Charles) Henson of Shalimar, FL; 6 grandchildren, Deanna (Carlos) Delgado, Jennifer Clack-Patton, Andy (Sandy) Miller, John Hanks, Troy Hanks, and Lisa (James) Stambaugh; 11 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Carl (Margaret) Daugherty of Spring Lake, and Charles (Evy) Daugherty of Holland; 2 sisters, Mary Lou Judd of Muskegon, and Claudette Bethke of Grand Haven; and many, many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Gail and Wayne Daugherty; and sister, June Yedinak. In accordance with her wishes, A PRIVATE MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at a later date.
