Mrs. Doris Ann Smith's Obituary
Mrs. Doris Ann Smith, age 81, passed away Thursday, August 13, 2009 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born in Muskegon on March 24, 1928 to Roger and Alma (Bisson) Hallstrand and was a life resident of the area. Mrs. Smith was a telephone operator for GTE and had worked at Roosevelt Park Nursing Centre before her retirement. She was a member of St. Jean’s Catholic Church. Mrs. Smith enjoyed traveling and volunteering at Hackley Hospital. She is survived by her 3 children, Roger (Linda) Warner of Muskegon, Jeanne (Chris) Montana of Long Beach, CA and Rita Marie (Michael) Sarade of Muskegon; 6 grandchildren; 1 brother, Richard (Shirley) Hallstrand of Jupiter, FL; 2 sisters, Mary Strate of North Muskegon and Rita Lauretti of Roosevelt Park and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and 1 granddaughter, Joanne Sarade. A MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be 10AM Tuesday at St. Jean Baptiste Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Matthew J. Barnum presiding. VISITATION will be from 2-4 & 6-8PM Monday at The Walburn Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 1547 W. Sherman Blvd. 231-759-8565 with the ROSARY prayed at 6PM. INTERMENT will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. MEMORIALS in Mrs. Smith’s name may be made to St. Jean Catholic Church or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
