Mrs. Dortha I. Vredeveld's Obituary
Mrs. Dortha I. Vredeveld, age 91, went to be with her Lord Thursday evening, August 14, 2008 at the Harbor Hospice Poppen Residence. She was born May 22, 1917 to Harmon and Nellie (Bowers) Nelund in South Bend, IN, and lived in the Muskegon area for the past 75 years. Mrs. Vredeveld was a member of First Christian Reformed Church, and had been the secretary for the Ladies Aid circle at the church. She enjoyed cooking, doing crafts, and knitting. She was married to Gerrit Vredeveld on January 29, 1935 in Muskegon. He preceded her in death on March 8, 1988. SURVIVORS include 3 children, Norma (Donald) Loss of Muskegon, Douglas (Judy) Vredeveld of West Bloomfield, MI, Brian (Alice) Vredevled of Ypsilanti, MI; 19 grandchilddren, 19 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren; and a step-sister, Clarrisa Lappo of Fruitport. She was also preceded in death by her daughter Kathleen Cooper; 2 sons, Michael and Alan Vredeveld; a son-in-law, Garth Cooper; 1 sister, Pauline Boerma; 2 brothers, Lester and Oliver Nelund.
