Mrs. Jean (Hazel) Wheeler's Obituary
Mrs. Jean (Hazel) Wheeler, age 82, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, July 25, 2011. She was born in Reeman, MI on June 28, 1929 to E. Glenn and Elsie J. (Popps) Stonex. Mrs. Wheeler graduated from Howells Business School before being employed as a comptometrist at Continental Motors and Sheldon. She also worked as a custodian at Calvary Church where she had been a member for over 60 years, was involved with nursery and was a former deaconess. Mrs. Wheeler enjoyed canning, baking and playing baseball with her children and grandchildren. Most importantly, she loved her family. On September 6, 1957, she married her husband of 53 years, Weitse S. Wheeler and he survives her along with her daughter, Ellen (Brian) Oberg of Marquette; her son, Gary Wheeler of North Muskegon; 2 grandchildren, Joy and Jay Oberg; 2 brothers, Glenn Stonex of Sacramento, CA and Walter Stonex of Whitehall. She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, David Wheeler. SERVICES will be 11:00AM Saturday at Calvary Church – Chapel (5873 Kendra Rd., Fruitport, MI) with Pastor Bill Rudd and Pastor Terry Fulk officiating. VISITATION will be from 5-8PM Friday at The Walburn Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 1547 W. Sherman 231-759-8565 and from 10-11AM at church on Saturday. INTERMENT will be in Lakeside Cemetery. MEMORIALS may be made to Calvary Church.
