Mrs. Jean Carpenter's Obituary
Mrs. Jean Carpenter, age 78, passed away Monday, August 29, 2011 at the Poppen Residence. She was born February 8, 1933 to Earl and Althea (Hilderly) Smith. On August 17, 2011 she celebrated 60 years of marriage to Michael O. Carpenter. Together they were life residents of Norton Shores, and Summer residents of the Big Blue Lake area. Mrs. Carpenter was a co-owner of Leloff’s Ladies Apparel in the West Village Mall, and a member of Lake Harbor United Methodist Church. Her SURVIVORS include her husband, Michael O. Carpenter; her children: Michael P. (Kris) Carpenter of Fremont, Joel (Joan) Carpenter of Traverse City, Kristi (Theodore) Noeker of Walsenburg, CO, and Julie (Michael) Bredin of Muskegon; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Betty (Bud) Jordan of Muskegon. The FUNERAL SERVICE for Mrs. Carpenter will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, September 2, 2011 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444, phone 231-798-1100 with Rev. Mark E. Erbes officiating and interment in Norton Cemetery. VISITATION with the family will be 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Thursday, and 10-11 A.M. Friday. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS to the Lake Harbor United Methodist Church Memorial Fund would be appreciated.
