Mrs. Julia A. Kapson's Obituary
Mrs. Julia A. Kapson, age 86, of North Muskegon, formerly of Grand Rapids, passed away Monday evening, April 4, 2011. She was born in Carson City, MI on July 4, 1924 to John and Anna (Filip) Sladovnik. Mrs. Kapson was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church and a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Grand Rapids where she was active in the Ladies Guild. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the 9-hole women’s league at White Lake Golf Course and was a reading volunteer at Reeths Puffer Elementary Schools. She loved gardening, cooking and watching and feeding the birds. On February 22, 1947, Julia married her husband of 64 years, Daniel Kapson, and he survives her along with two children, Susan Averill and John (Jean) Kapson; one granddaughter, Stephanie Averill; one sister, Ann Linsday; three brothers, John Sladovnik, Elmer Sladovnik and Edward (Shirley) Sladovnik; one sister-in-law, Betty Jagusch and several close and loving nieces and nephews. SERVICES will be 1:00 PM Friday at First Evangelical Lutheran Church (1206 Whitehall Rd.) with Rev. Travis Wilson officiating. VISITATION will be from 2-4 & 6-8 PM Thursday at The Walburn Chapel. Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 1547 W. Sherman Blvd. 231-759-8565 and 1 hour prior to the service at church. INTERMENT will be in Carson City Cemetery. MEMORIALS to First Evangelical Lutheran Church, American Alzheimer’s Association or the Vasculitis Foundation would be appreciated.
