Mrs. Mary Lou Sagan's Obituary
Mrs. Mary Lou Sagan, age 80, went to be with her Lord on Monday, October 17, 2011. She was born in Minneapolis, MN on March 1, 1931 to Barney and Blanche (Hickerson) Devine and had lived in Norton Shores since 1970. Mrs. Sagan was a devoted member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church and was a member of the Women’s Guild. She volunteered for Love INC and for Habitat for Humanity and she sponsored many children overseas. Mrs. Sagan enjoyed baking, gardening, sewing, knitting, crocheting and drawing house plans. She was a very creative person, a loving wife, and a wonderful mom. On September 18, 1954, Mary Lou married Daniel Sagan in Madison, WI and he preceded her in death on March 17, 2007. She is survived by four children, Susan (Timothy) Sorensen of Muskegon, Joseph Sagan of Lansing, Patrick (Shelly) Sagan of Grand Haven and Katherine (Todd) Brown of Izmir, Turkey; 12 grandchildren, David, Steven, Adam, Andrew, Derek, Hilary, MaryAnn, Marie, Sophie, Sam, Will and Nate and 3 great-grandchildren, Evan, Ariana and Gianna. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and two children, Cynthia Winsemius and Thomas Sagan. The MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be held 10:00AM Friday at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Philip P. Salmonowicz presiding. VISITATION will be from 2-4 & 6-8PM Thursday at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100 with the ROSARY PRAYED at 8:00PM. INTERMENT will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
