Mrs. Velma Helen (Hawkins) Pinney's Obituary
Mrs. Velma Helen (Hawkins) Pinney, age 90, passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2011 in Muskegon. She was born on May 31, 1921 to Alvin and Pearl (Baker) Christensen. Mrs. Pinney was an Avon Cosmetics Representative and had formerly worked for Muskegon Schools as a bus driver and teachers aid. She had been involved with the Meal Program at Fellowship Reformed Church and enjoyed volunteer work. Velma loved to bake cookies and keep a clean home, but most importantly, she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. SURVIVORS include 4 children, Thomas Hawkins, Pete (Marie) Hawkins, Jeanne Williams and Helen Richards; 19 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Alvin (Bev) Christensen and 1 sister, Valerie (Harold) Kitchen. She was preceded in death by 2 husbands, Allen Hawkins and William Pinney; 4 children, Donald Hawkins, Charles Hawkins, Mary Lou Branch and Pearl Hawkins and 2 sisters. SERVICES will be held 4:00PM Friday, August 26, 2011 at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Ave. 231-726-5210. VISITATION will be from 6-8PM this evening, August 25, 2011 and one hour prior to the service. INTERMENT will be in Lakeside Cemetery. MEMORIALS may be made to United Cerebral Palsy of Michigan or the Michigan Parkinson Foundation.
