Mr. William J. Lack's Obituary
Mr. William J. Lack, age 83, passed away Monday evening, October 10, 2005 in Muskegon. He was born on January 3, 1922 to Emil and Paulina (Mielnikiewicz) Lack in Muskegon and was a life resident. William was a graduate of Muskegon High School. He then enlisted in the military in 1942, became a Buck Sergeant in the Army Air Corp and served in the 5th photo recon unit in the South Pacific. Mr. Lack returned to Muskegon and in 1947, opened Lack’s Beverages in partnership with his father, and ran the business until he retired in 1994. William was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, and was previously a member of St. Joseph’s Parish before its closure. He was very active in the Catholic War Veteran post 843 and the Muskegon Catholic Schools Booster Clubs. Mr. Lack was a fixture at the Muskegon Catholic Central home football games, and will be remembered for his raising of the flag. William was an avid ticket seller for various charities, and was a member of the M-Club, Eagles, Knights of Columbus, Muskegon Catholic Centrals booster club, Old Newsboys, Muskegon “Leathermans Club” (former Big Red football players), the Polish Union and the 5th Air Force Association. On September 14, 1957, he married the former Gloria Ann Kruzona in Muskegon, and she survives him along with 3 daughters, Lisa (Stephen) Daykin of Rittman, OH, Jane (Michael) Magniant of Grand Rapids, MI and Teresa Lack of Muskegon. He was also blessed with 4 grandchildren, the loves of his life, Daniel and Sarah Daykin of Rittman, OH, Alana Rose and Gabrielle Magniant of Grand Rapids, MI. He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Leon Lack and Walter Lack. A MASS OF REMEMBRANCE will be 11AM Friday at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Michael Olson presiding. VISITATION will be from 10-11AM Friday at church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that MEMORIALS be made to Our Lady of Grace Memorial Fund.
