Mr. William Lloyd Petty's Obituary
Mr. William Lloyd Petty, age 84, passed away Wednesday afternoon, December 3, 2008 at a local hospital. He was born in Columbia, TN on December 29, 1923 to Classie Eugene and Roxie Anna (Hood) Petty and had lived in Muskegon since 1944. He was a member of Calvary Church where he served as usher, deacon and president of Sunday School Classes. Bill was a power sweeper at S.D. Warren for 47 years before his retirement in 1991. Prior to his employment at S.D. Warren, he had worked as a sharecropper on a farm in Tennessee. He enjoyed puzzles, reading, good food and country music. On June 23, 1951, William married the former Marva J. Salisbury in Muskegon and she preceded him in death on June 7, 2008. He is survived by his two daughters, Nina (Steve) Broek of Muskegon and Sheila (Kenneth) Clark of Leesburg, VA; 2 grandsons, Steven and Jonathan Broek; 2 sisters-in-law, Jaqueline DeVries and Sally Schuelke; several nieces, nephews and cousins. SERVICES will be 1PM Saturday at Calvary Church with Pastor Bill Rudd officiating. VISITATION will be from 11AM-1PM Saturday at church. INTERMENT will be in Lakeside Cemetery. MEMORIALS in Mr. Petty’s name may be made to Calvary Church Building Fund, American Diabetes Association or Harbor Hospice.
