Muriel A. Truax Goeres' Obituary
Muriel A. Truax Goeres, age 98, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at the Poppen Residence of Harbor Hospice. She was born on October 18, 1927, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to John and Elizabeth (VanEss) Rogalski, and lived in the area most of her life. Before having a family, she spent many years in a clerical role at Wolverine Worldwide.
Muriel was a devoted caregiver, dedicating her time to homemaking and raising her children. As a stay-at-home mom, she enjoyed baking. Every weekend, family and friends enjoyed an array of homemade desserts and baked goods.
Muriel also found joy in the beauty of the outdoors. She took special pride in tending to her gardens throughout the summer months. Music and dancing also held a special place in her heart.
She is survived by 2 children, Vicki (Dale) Atkinson, Jonathan (Mary) Truax; 6 grandchildren, Jessica (Blue) Feller, Jeremy (Kathie) Atkinson, David VanderWest, Ryan (Elizabeth) Truax, Kaitlin (Joe) Giordimaina, Joshua Truax; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Victor Truax, in 1994, and her second husband, Karl Goeres, in 2018.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, April 3, 2026, at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey Street, Norton Shores, Michigan 49444, with Fr. Joseph Gingrich presiding. Interment will take place at Rockford Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Harbor Hospice Foundation.
