Murlin L. Gundy's Obituary
Mr. Murlin L. Gundy, age 94, passed away Friday, November 26, 2010 at the Poppen Residence. He was born on January 2, 1916 in West Plains, Missouri to Robert and Ethel (Ashley) Gundy, and resided in the area most of his life. Mr. Gundy was the owner and founder of Gundy Hardware for 27 years, before retiring in 1978, and had previously worked at Brunswick Corporation. He was a charter member of both Forest Home Reformed Church and Hope Reformed Church. Mr. Gundy served on the consistory, building and grounds committee, was in charge of the Fellowship Group, and taught Sunday School for 40 years at Hope Reformed Church. He was a talented builder and woodworker, and avid fisherman for many years. On February 26, 1938, he married the former Lorraine Stevens, and she preceded him in death on December 7, 1998. SURVIVORS include 2 sons, Clarence and Linda Gundy, and Edward and Vicki Gundy both of Spring Lake; 4 grandchildren, Traci (Kyle) Anderson, Troy (Michelle) Gundy, Michelle (Matthew) Anderson and Michael Gundy; and 4 great grandchildren, Kennedy and Kelsey Anderson and Ethan and Eric Anderson. Mr. Gundy was also preceded in death by his brother, Staff Sgt. Clarence Gundy. The FUNERAL SERVICE will be 2PM Wednesday at The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100 with Rev. Steven S. Hyma officiating. VISITATION with the family will be 5-8PM Tuesday evening. Burial will take place in Restlawn Cemetery. Memorial Contributions to Hope Reformed Church will be appreciated.
