Myrtle L. Black's Obituary
Mrs. Myrtle L. (Burgin) Black, age 85, passed away Friday, January 31, 2014 at Newaygo County Medical Care Facility. She was born August 17, 1928 in Lecompte, LA, to Joseph and Cora (Holland) Burgin and was a resident of the Muskegon area most of her life. On October 10, 1945, she married Keith Black in Louisiana and he preceded her in death on March 18, 1994. Prior to retirement in 1989, she worked 20 years as a sales clerk for Hardy-Herpolsheimer’s Department Store. Myrtle was a member of Fellowship Reformed Church and was a former member of Unity Reformed Church. She was very active in the DeColores Movement, Myrtle enjoyed spending time with her family, bowling, playing cards with her friends, reading, solving crossword puzzles and working in the yard taking care of her roses. SURVIVORS include 4 children, Mark (June) Black of Dewitt, Keil (David) Basch of Big Rapids, Chris (Lena) Black of Twin Lake, Kimberly (Gary) Boss of Muskegon; 12 grandchildren and 4 step-grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers and 1 sister. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, February 6, 2014 at Fifth Reformed Church (2330 Holton Rd.) with Pastor Paul Burmeister presiding. INTERMENT will take place at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. VISITATION will be one hour prior to the service at church, 1-2 PM Thursday. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Cancer Society. Arrangements handled by
