Myrtle Lee Stone's Obituary
Myrtle L. Stone, 93, passed away Wednesday, August 23, 2023, in Muskegon. She was born May 13, 1930, to Robert J. and Maude (Cumbie) Cooper in Muskegon and was a lifelong resident of this area. Myrtle was a longtime member of Evanston Avenue Baptist Church; she enjoyed reading and loved trivia. On June 25, 1949, she married Manuel E. “Manny” Stone, and he preceded her in death on March 1, 1969. Survivors include two children: Michael (Rosie) Stone, Rosemary (George) Matchell; grandchildren: Christian (Nancy) Matchell; great-grandchildren: Charles Matchell, Caroline (Tyler) Whiteman. She was also preceded in death by her sister Ruby Inez Cooper and brother Edward Cooper. The funeral service for Mrs. Stone will be Tuesday, August 29, at 11:00 AM at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 737 E. Apple Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at Mona View Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Mrs. Stone may be made to Sanctuary at McAuley.
