Nancy Mae Armstrong's Obituary
Nancy Mae Armstrong, age 83, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on Friday, July 18, 2025, at Families Manor in Twin Lake. Born on November 1, 1941, in Muskegon to Leon and Anna (Durn) Reterstoff, Nancy was a lifelong resident of the area and a beloved part of the community. On January 4, 1964, she married the love of her life, Richard D. Armstrong. They shared 31 years of marriage before his passing in 1995. Nancy worked as a meat trimmer for Bil-Mar Foods for 25 years, retiring in 1999, and later served in housekeeping at DeBoer’s Nursing Home. Nancy’s faith was the heartbeat of her life. A devoted member of Central Assembly of God, she served behind the scenes with quiet consistency—restocking pew cards, preparing communion, refilling water bottles for the pastors, and visiting shut-ins in hospitals and nursing homes. She never missed a Bible study and found deep joy in serving wherever she was needed. She was a familiar face around town, known for walking everywhere—rain or shine—and always sharing a smile. It’s hard to find a local shop or business that doesn’t have someone who knew and loved Nancy from her daily travels. She had a deep love for God’s Word, a fondness for donuts and chocolate milk, and a special heart for children’s ministry—supporting it faithfully as a way to pour into the next generation, even though she had no children of her own. Nancy is survived by her brother, James (Arvella) Reterstoff; her sister, Eileen (Mike) Bannon; a niece; her longtime friend and caregiver Karen Enders; and the Enders family, who embraced Nancy with love and treated her as one of their own. She was also blessed by the care and companionship of several faithful friends who looked after her in countless quiet ways. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard; her parents; four brothers, Eddie, Leon, Richard, and Robert; and her sister, Barb. A memorial service to celebrate Nancy’s life will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, July 28, 2025, at Central Assembly of God, 895 Home Street, Muskegon, with Pastor Jeff Haddon officiating. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. She will be laid to rest at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. In honor of her love for children and the church, memorial contributions may be made to the Children’s Ministries at Central Assembly of God. Nancy’s life was a quiet testimony of faith, service, and kindness. She will be deeply missed by all who had the joy of knowing her.
