Nancy Louise Corcoran's Obituary
Mrs. Nancy Louise Corcoran, age 85, passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2024 in Norton Shores, Michigan. She was born in Buffalo, New York on March 9, 1939 to Albert and Emily (Ellman) Curthoys. Nancy graduated from Sisters of Charity School of Nursing in 1956 and from the University of Buffalo with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1964. She taught at nursing schools in Buffalo, NY, Boston, MA, and Malden, MA. After moving to Michigan, Nancy attended St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. She served as the treasurer and board member of Friends of Norton Shores Library. Nancy was active with Girl Scouts in the 80’s, and enjoyed playing Bridge, reading, and quilting. On August 9, 1969, Nancy married Laurence “Larry” Corcoran in Buffalo, New York and they enjoyed 51 years together until his passing in 2020. Nancy is survived by her son, Kevin (Stephanie Krus) Corcoran; twin granddaughters, Hannah and Sarah Varboncoeur; brother, Norm Curthoys, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry; daughter, Kathleen Varboncoeur; her parents; and siblings, Kenneth Curthoys and Linda Curthoys. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be held 2:00 PM Friday, November 15, 2024 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church (2929 McCracken, Muskegon, 49441). VISITATION will be from 5-7 PM Thursday, November 14, 2024 at The Walburn Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 1547 W. Sherman Blvd., Muskegon, MI 49441, with the ROSARY prayed at 4:30PM. VISITATION will also be one hour prior to her service at St. Francis. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
