Nancy Ellyn Parrott was born to Gordon and Velma Parrott on February 3, 1930. Nancy and her sister, Sally, grew up on Santa Cruz Drive in East Grand Rapids. Nancy attended East Grand Rapids Schools. She went on to complete her Elementary Education Degree at Michigan State University. While at MSU, Nancy was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority and was in the Harvest Ball Queens Court. Nancy spent her summers as a camper at Camp Henry. Later, Nancy became a Counselor at Camp Blodgett helping underprivileged children. Nancy married James Allan Grigware, who has preceded her in death, and they had three children. Their son, Jeffrey Allan Grigware preceded her in death. Nancy is survived by her other two children, Tracey Mitchell Lev-Ary and Jamie Dwyer Eymann (Richard). Nancy was an elementary school teacher with Okemos schools. She continued teaching later as a substitute teacher. In 1978, Nancy married Julian B. Hatton, and they were married 35 years until his death.
Nancy and Julian resided in Grand Haven, Michigan. Their combined families expanded to nine children. There were many riotous dinners! Nancy worked for WGHN in advertising. She loved keeping her hand on the pulse of the community with her sales calls. Nancy was very creative. She once played court jester in a Junior League Production. She loved to decorate, paint and garden. Often, you could find her out foraging for wildflowers. Nancy lived simply. She was kind and loved to laugh. Shoot for the Stars Nancy! We will see you in the night sky, twinkling. In lieu of donations, help a neighbor.
