I was deeply saddened when Alex called to tell me of his mother’s passing. He is perhaps my oldest friend in Muskegon, dating back to 1974 when I moved here Wisconsin after graduate school. We were fast friends and spent a lot of time at his folks’ house, as well as on the job. Mrs Simon treated me like one of her own from the very beginning, feeding me often and looking after me along with her son. I continued to visit when Alex when off to Michigan Tech for an engineering degree, and then some more when he returned. She watched as we both were married and raised families. I’m very grateful that she stayed with us well into our children’s adulthood. Nancy Simon was, indeed and spirit, a loving and remarkable Mom. She’ll be missed by many.
With sincere condolences to the family of one who spent a life well lived.
