Nancy Walling's Obituary
Nancy Walling, age 84, passed away September 10, 2025, in Muskegon, MI. She was born February 4, 1941, to John and Joan (Francis-Adams) Wieland in Chicago, Ill. She graduated high school from Faulkner School for Girls in 1959. After graduating high school, she went on to work for Chubb Insurance as a bookkeeper. While working for Chubb in Chicago she met the love of her life John Walling. They married on September 20, 1969. They then moved to Somerville, New Jersey and both continued their careers with Chubb. They spent much of their working life in Somerville. When they decided it was time to retire, they made the decision to move to Muskegon MI to spend their retirement years around family.
Nancy was a member of the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. Including serving the Vestry as well as serving the Altar Guild for many years. She spent many days transporting her great-nieces and great-nephews to and from school and other activities and cherished those moments and the conversations with the kids. She loved to travel, and both ocean and river cruises were enjoyed by John and Nancy during the years. In her free time, she loved to knit and was a part of many knitting groups. She developed a bunch of friendships from these groups.
She will be remembered by her sister, Judy Fleener; 4 nephews, Bill (Yvonne), John, Mark (Virginia), and Greg (Trisha); 12 great-nieces and nephews, Sarah, Logan, Morgun, Austin, Jared (Maria), Eryn, Alex, Trey, Maverick, Sammi, Tillman and Elisabeth; and great great-niece Addie and great-great nephew John.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John, and brother-in-law, William Fleener.
Services will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 1006 3rd Street, Muskegon, MI 49440, on Saturday October 4th at 2:00 pm. Visitation with the family will begin 1 hour before the service. Arrangements entrusted to The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremations Services, 737 E. Apple Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442.
