Nancy Lou Zarndt's Obituary
Nancy Lou Zarndt, age 83, formerly of Garden Grove, California, passed away at Crystal Cove Care Center in Newport Beach, California, on Saturday, January 27, 2018. She was born September 27, 1934, in Grand Haven, to Jack and Dorothy (Melvin) Mistretta.
Nancy grew up in Grand Haven, then moved with her family to Illinois as a young teen. She then moved to California with her own family. Nancy was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Garden Grove for many years. After being a homemaker, she decided to go to Cypress College, and worked as a physical therapist and in sales at Global Hobby before retiring in 1996. She especially enjoyed reading, gardening, loved animals, and most of all enjoyed spending time with family.
She is lovingly remembered by her children, Debra (Gary) Weigel of Grand Haven, Vincent (Lisa) Zarndt of Napanee, NE, and Marie Marcal of Garden Grove, CA; five grandchildren: Michael Hansen, Laura Spencer, Amber (Robert) Eaton, Chad (Traci) Zarndt, and Brandon Weigel; fifteen great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Norma Patton of Grand Haven and Mary Mistretta of St. John, IN; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Lauren; brother, Ron Mistretta; nephew, Bobby Mistretta; sister-in-law, Barb Mistretta; and brother-in-law, Wayne Patton.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 8, 2018, at Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services – The VanZantwick Chapel with Rev. Kurt Wenzelburger officiating. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Lake Forest Cemetery. Memorial contributions to American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Association are appreciated.
