Nancy L. Carpenter's Obituary
Nancy (Nan’c) L. Carpenter, age 71, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2011 in Muskegon after a vigilant fight with cancer. She was born February 20, 1940 in Kalamazoo, MI to Stanley and Josephine Ann (Hopkins) Carpenter. At the age of 6, she and her family moved to Boyne City and she graduated from St. Francis High School in Petoskey, Michigan. Nan’c moved to Muskegon after getting her Associate Degree in Business from Davenport College where she worked for 32 years at the Muskegon County Road Commission before retiring in 1997. Her interests included shopping, gardening, traveling, and she also had a special knack at finding the right gifts for family and friends. Even when Nan’c was sick, she was continually providing help and assistance for others-particularly those also getting cancer treatments. She is survived by her sister, Joanne Edson of Kremmling, Colorado; and many nieces and nephews. Nan’c was preceded in death by her mother in 1999; sister, Carolyn Bartlett in 1994; and brother, Stanley Carpenter, in 2007. The MEMORIAL SERVICE will be 11AM Monday, July 25, 2011 at The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100 with Rev. Fr. Matt Barnum officiating.
