Nellie Jane Jackman's Obituary
Mrs. Nellie Jane Jackman, age 95, passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2020 in Muskegon. She was born on September 25, 1924 in Muskegon to Gerritt and Nellie (DePender) VanDonkelaar and resided in the area all of her life. Nellie enjoyed playing cards, and liked to bowl back in the day. She also loved to knit, sew, and do ceramics, but most of all she was known as the queen of canning. Nellie was a hard worker in all she did. On November 2, 1945 she married Donald J. Jackman, and he preceded her in death on November 6, 2002. SURVIVORS include 5 children, Larry (Cindy) Jackman, Debi (Donald) Cribley, LuAnn Jackman, Dianna (Michael) Michelli, Leland (Lori) Jackman; daughter-in-law, Dorene Jackman; 17 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren. Nellie was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Donald J. Jackman, Jr; grandson, Jay Allen; great granddaughter, Emma Wallace; sisters, Gertrude Wheater and Elizabeth Schuitema; brothers, William, Gerritt, Peter, Joe, and Nicholas VanDonkelaar. A Celebration of Nellie’s Life will be 1PM Friday, February 7, 2020 at Whitlow’s Forerunner Banquet Room (4610 Airline Rd). Share memories with the family online at www.sytsemafh.com.
