Ms. Nelly Evgeny Riekse's Obituary
Ms. Nelly Evgeny Riekse, age 50, passed away Thursday, January 8, 2015 in the Bronx, NY. Nelly was born April 19, 1964 to Evgeny and Olga (Zherko) Shiryaev in Moscow, Russia. She was a professional artist, specializing in portraits, landscapes and seascapes and participated in ArtPrize. She was a sculpturist, an author and illustrator of children’s books; and a professional make-up artist for television and movies. Nelly had four shows of her work, the last being called ‘From Past to Future’. She enjoyed all kinds of art, decorating and crafts. Nelly also enjoyed gardening and shopping. She was a life member of the VFW Post # 3734 Ladies Auxiliary. Nelly had many plans and dreams, but time did not allow for them. Nelly’s SURVIVOR’S include her son, Richard Riekse; her son’s father, Colonel Max Riekse; her parents, Evgeny Shiryaev and Olga Zherko; She was preceded in death by her brother, Dmitri Evgeny Shiryaev. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 14 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St. 231 798-1100 with Rev. Fr. Gregory Hogg and Rev. Fr. John Hogg co-officiating. VISITATION will be one hour prior to the service (10-11 AM). Interment will be made in Fruitport Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Nelly E. Riekse Orthodox Memorial Marker Fund.
