Nicholas B. Benfield's Obituary
Mr. Nicholas Benfield, age 21 passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 19, 2015 in Spring Lake. He was born on June 21, 1994 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina to Marcus and Rebecca (McGregor) Benfield. Following his father’s death the family moved to the Fruitport area in 2000. He was a 2012 graduate of Fruitport High School. Nick worked at Magna International as a forklift operator. He loved hunting, fishing and the outdoors, but his biggest joy came from time spent with his son, Zayden and his family. SURVIVORS include his son, Zayden Benfield; parents, Anthony and Rebecca Dexter; brother, Marcus Daniel (Rachel) Benfield; 2 sisters, Nicole (Ric) Garza and Heather (Aaron) Freeman; grandfather, William McGregor; grandparents, Dal (Lynda) Benfield; and grandmother, Mary Dexter; 1 niece, Kylin and 2 nephews, Isaac and Mason. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins. Nick was preceded in death by his father, Marcus Benfield; grandmother, Viola McGregor; and his cousin, Brandon Sprader. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 3 PM Friday, October 23, 2015 at The Lee Chapel 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100 with Pastor Dan Smith officiating. VISITATION will be held on Thursday from 5-8 PM.
