Nicholas "Nick" David Chorny's Obituary
Nicholas “Nick” David Chorny, age 75, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 20, 2022. He was born on November 25, 1946, to Walter and Catherine (Raczok) Chorny in Muskegon. Nick was a proud veteran of The United States Navy and served several years as Post Commander of VFW Post #3195 in Norton Shores. Nick was an educator and enjoyed a 30 plus year career at the Fruitport Community Schools. He also took on coaching roles for both the track and field and wrestling programs. Nick enjoyed fishing, golfing, visiting the casinos, and had a knack for organizing. Music played a big role in his life. He had a talent for singing, playing guitar, and other instruments. He will be missed by the many friends and family members he leaves behind. Nick is survived by his wife, Kim Chorny; children, Susan Chorny, Lisa Chorny, Thomas Chorny, Julie (John) Kolean, Bradley Chorny; grandchildren, Eamonn Timmons, Sam Moblo, Donovan Moblo, Elliott Kolean, Elise Kolean, Bailey Napier; former spouse, Ginny Hebert; siblings, Dan (Micki) Chorny, Helen (Paul) Miller, sisters-in-law, Pam (John) Sowa, Charlene Drake; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, George (Dee) Chorny; and daughter, Ann Chorny. A celebration of Nick’s life will take place on Friday, September 30, 2022, from 2:00 – 6:00 PM at the VFW Post #3195 (5209 Grand Haven Rd) with a time of sharing and military honors to take place starting at 3:15 PM. Inurnment will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery at a later date. For a more lasting memory, donations in Nick’s name can be made out to VFW Post #3195.
