Nora Lee Shaffer's Obituary
Nora Lee Shaffer, age 82, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at her home. She was born on October 25, 1940, to Alden and Minola (Spiggle) Sylvester in Anderson, Indiana. After graduating from Anderson High School, she married Charles “Chuck” Shaffer on December 27, 1957, in Indiana and he preceded her in death on December 25, 2021. Nora and Chuck would find their way to Western Michigan in 1995. She liked sewing, birdwatching and enjoyed playing golf with her friends. What she loved the most was spending time with her grandkids, whether it was attending a game or school event, Nora was there. Nora was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Nora will be dearly missed by her children, Scott (Kelly) Shaffer, Shelley (William) Kelley, Stacy (Nik) Tong, and Shari (Brad) Ralston; grandchildren, Kelsey (Jeff) Heltstowski, Elise (Alex) Van De Steenoven, Mackenzie and Morgan Ralston, and Brandon and Brooke Tong; great-grandchildren, Kinsley, Anistyn, and Payton; brother, Melvin (BJ) Sylvester; sister, Sarah (Bill) Madren; along with nieces, nephews, and close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Judy Carter and Melva Tegge. To honor Nora’s wishes, no services will be held.
