Norlyn J. Sweet's Obituary
Mrs. Norlyn J. Sweet, age 91, passed away December 5, 2021. She was born in Muskegon, Michigan on March 3, 1930, to Norman and Evelyn (Hylen) Winkel. Norlyn graduated from St. Joseph’s High School in 1947. On September 2, 1950 she married Richard L. Sweet, who preceded her in death on May 9, 1978. Norlyn was a member of McGraft Congregational Church, where she was employed as secretary/office manager for 25 years, retiring in 2005. Norlyn is survived by four children: Michelle Sweet of Muskegon, Marcia (Richard) Miller of Colorado, Melinda Sweet of Muskegon, and Mark (Ruth) Sweet of Muskegon. She is also survived by two brothers; RADM Raymond N. Winkel (USN Retired) of Iowa and Robert M. Winkel of Texas. Also surviving are two granddaughters and one great-granddaughter. Norlyn was preceded in death by her parents. Her beloved little brother Jimmie also preceded her in death in 1945. In accordance with Norlyn’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and no service is planned. Final resting place will be Lakeside Cemetery, once again beside her husband.
