Norma E. Conrad's Obituary
Norma E. Conrad, age 86, died Saturday, December 8, 2012 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Norma was born August 20, 1926 to Tina (Kempf) and Dutch Parisian in Muskegon. The family moved to Lansing in 1936. She graduated from high school after which she worked for a year in the Oldsmobile Defense Plant to earn money for college. She attended MSU where she graduated with a degree in sociology. She moved to New York City where she worked for Bankers Trust on Wall Street in the brokers loan department for several years.
She returned to Michigan and was employed by IBM where she met her future husband, Voris She worked in several positions including Executive Secretary from which she retired after 15 years.
She married Voris in 1963 and they moved to Livonia. They moved to Spring Lake in 1989. She is survived by her daughter, Kris Conrad of Livonia (Richard Genik II); her step-daughters, Karen Conrad (Kathy Przybylski) and Linda Young (Joe Young), both of VA; her brother-in-law, Keith Conrad (Barb Muller) of New York; and several special cousins.
She was preceded in death by both of her parents, her brother Stan who was killed in the Battle of the Bulge during WWII, and both her father-in-law as well as her mother-in-law.
Norma enjoyed spending time with her family, collecting Swarovski crystals, miniature boxes and reading.
Her family will miss her but is thankful that her passing was as peaceful as possible.
Interment will take place 1:00 PM Thursday, December 13, 2012 at Spring Lake Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 PM Thursday at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Grand Haven.
