Mrs. Norma Jean Schwing's Obituary
Mrs. Norma Jean Schwing, age 77, passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at her home. Norma was born December 8, 1940 in Rittman, Ohio to Richard and Pauline (Snell) Lathrop. On September 13, 1958, she married John Charles Schwing, and he preceded her in death on November 21, 1994. Norma worked at EPC for 16 years and then for Great Lakes Downs for several years prior to her retirement in 2007. She greatly enjoyed going to the casinos and playing bingo. Norma had her money on Justified to win the Kentucky Derby. She loved Tweedy Bird and enjoyed collecting tea pots and owls. Norma also loved for her family and friends to gather at her property up north for food and fellowship. Norma will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her children, Vicky (Richard) Lyttle of Allendale, MI and Mark (Kimberly Fuller) Schwing of Muskegon; 7 grandchildren, John (Michelle Howe) Schwing, Richard (Ashley Baker) Schwing, Christopher McMullin, Nicole Schwing, Jessica (Dan) Baldus, Amy Lyttle, and Mark Schwing; 16 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Clatus “Butch” Clyne and Richard (Geneva) Lathrop; special friend, Harold Irey; and several nieces and nephews. Norma was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Aaron McMullin; a great-grandson, Jason Schwing; and a brother, Harold Snell. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at The Sytsema Chapel 737 E. Apple Ave. (231) 726-5210 with Rev. John H. Brown officiating.
