Norma graduated from Grand Haven Christian School and Grand Haven High School in 1950. She worked for the Grand Haven Municipal Hospital and took medical technician training at Mercy Hospital in Muskegon, and she worked there until 1965. She then went on to work for the Ottawa County Health Department doing well-baby check-ups and vision and hearing screenings, retiring in 1994. She was also an active member of Christ Community Church in Spring Lake, and of the Fruitport Lady Lions Club. She loved to play and watch sports.
