Norma Jeanne (Granger) Essenberg's Obituary
Mrs. Norma Jeanne (Granger) Essenberg, age 84, passed away Sunday, August 7, 2011. She was born January 28, 1927 in Irons, MI to Earl and Zeta (Riggs) Granger and moved to the area after graduating high school. On January 25, 1947, she married Calvin Essenberg in Muskegon and he preceded her in death in 1975. She had been a charter member of the Muskegon Heights Eagles Auxiliary. She enjoyed craft projects, knitting, crocheting, sewing and quilting. SURVIVORS include 4 sons, Timothy (Marilyn) Essenberg, Gary (Kathleen) Essenberg, Lynn (Jackie) Essenberg, Ron (Lyndie) Essenberg; 5 daughters, Debra Kleyn, Dawn (Randy) Briegel, Sheila DuPuis, Lori (Craig Nedeau) Holmes, Pam (Charlie) Lander; 17 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren who knew her as the grandma who always giggled; 1 sister, Dorthea Kohlbeck; and many nieces and nephews. Jeanne had a special friend, David Dobberstein. They were avid card players and long-time Detroit Tiger fans. Dave showed her what it’s like to winter in Florida and she really enjoyed that. She was also preceded in death by her son, Randy; her sons-in-law, Dave Kleyn and Marvin Holmes; her parents; 4 brothers, William, Fred, Charles, Robert; and 1 sister, Judy. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 6291 S. Harvey Street, (231) 798-1100,
with the Rev. Jim VanderMeiden officiating. VISITATION will be held 5-8 PM Tuesday and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. INTERMENT will take place at Mona View Cemetery.
