Mr. Norman E. Gee's Obituary
Mr. Norman E. Gee, age 77, passed away at home surrounded by family after a long battle with cancer on Tuesday, November 20, 2018. He was born on August 20, 1941 to Orville and Mary (VanderKooi) Gee Sr. A lifelong resident of the area, Norman married the former Jacqueline “Jackie” Dietz on August 24, 1963 in Muskegon. Norman worked in maintenance at National Products for 33 years and later employed at Neway Anchorlock for 8 years before he retired. A man of unwavering values, Norman instilled the importance of hard work and just rewards in his children. He also had a compassionate heart and spent his days helping friend and stranger alike. This Jack of all trades used his knowledge of mechanics to mend countless vehicles and assorted mechanisms for all who would venture to seek his aide. He had a passion for horticulture which he used to create a flourishing and diverse garden for over half a century. His humanity extended to and was punctuated by his care for animals of various sorts. He never missed an opportunity to care for an injured animal. His devotion to God's lesser creatures was only surpassed by his love and devotion to his family. By giving selflessly of his time, body, and spirit to this world, his existence has made it a better place. Norman will be deeply missed by his wife Jackie of 55 years; children, Sarah (Michael) DeLora, Susan (Garry) Eppard, Brian (Tammy) Gee, Cindy (Jeremy) Flanery, Karen (Larry) Griesbach, and Rodney (Janene) Gee; 26 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; siblings, Irene Rasey, Virginia Galindo, Orville (Nancy) Gee Jr, Katherine Purcell and Sandra (Louis) Benedict; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dan Furbush and Sue Gee; ‘extended family,’ Steve Willea and Charles Willis III; several nieces and nephews; and feline companion, Pepper. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Doris Wilson, Evelyn Furbush, Carl Gee, Marilyn June Gee and Ronald Gee; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Stanley Purcell, Howard Rasey, and Christine Gee. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, November 23 at 11AM at Broadway Baptist Church (2892 South Oak Lane), with visitation from 10-11AM. On Wednesday, November 21 visitation with the family will be from 6-8PM at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 49444, 231-798-1100.
