Norman L. "Norm" Meyer's Obituary
Norm Meyer, age 83, passed away peacefully, Sunday, April 13, 2025 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Norm was born December 11, 1941 in Grand Haven, MI to Orie and Eleanor (Hinkle) Meyer and lived in the area all of his life. Norm married Susan K. Griswold in Grand Haven on June 30, 1961. They would have celebrated 64 years in June. Prior to retirement in 1990, he worked as a patternmaker. He worked on projects ranging from the airland cruise missile to designing and hand carving logos for semi-professional and professional football and baseball teams. He later owned and operated the first bed and breakfast in Grand Haven known as Seascape Bed & Breakfast. He grew up as a member of Ferrysburg Christian Reformed Church. Norm loved adventures. A few of his adventures included alligator hunting in Florida, lobstering in Maine, and flying small aircraft as a licensed pilot. Norm was a lifetime member of the Grand Haven Eagles. Norm loved spending time with his family. His hobbies included cars, fishing, hunting and traveling. Norm also had a dog named Sophie who he trained as a therapy dog and would often be seen visiting care facilities bringing joy to all around him. In 2011, Norm received a heart transplant blessing him with additional years and a chance to enjoy all of his 8 great-grandchildren. Norm is survived by his loving wife, Susan Meyer; his daughter, Kimberly (Larry) Holmes; 3 granddaughters, Ashley (Bill) Schmidt, Holly (Jon) Barnett, April (Chris) Bosker; 2 brothers, Donald Meyer, Jack (Debbie) Meyer; 8 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Babs Pellegrom; his parents Orie and Eleanor Meyer; his sister, Carol Meyer; his sister-in-law, Berta Meyer, and his dog, Sophie. Visitation will be held 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 17, 2025 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI 49444, with a Funeral Service to follow at 11:00 AM Thursday, April 17, 2025 Pastor Nate Visker officiating.
