Olga G. Richmond's Obituary
Olga Grace Richmond, age 84, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2019 with her loving family by her side. Olga was born on August 18, 1934 to Durand and Sadie (Trumbley) Westenfelder in Hesperia, MI. Olga graduated from North Muskegon High School in 1952. On December 5, 1953 she married the love of her life, Arnold George Richmond. He preceded her in death just two short months ago, April 5, 2019. Mom and Dad are united again in death as they were in life. Now the two halves are together again. Olga, known as Olgie to family and friends, was a devoted wife and mother. She was proud of her role as a homemaker and was an excellent cook. Her "Aunt Olgie" salad is famous to her family. She was an extraordinary money manager and willingly sacrificed much for the good of her family. Olgie fought debilitating rheumatoid arthritis for 40 years and never complained. When asked how the pain was, she would say, "it's not too bad" and give you one of her heartwarming smiles. She loved to play cards, especially pinochle but when her hands became too crippled to hold many cards, she played euchre. She played a lot of scrabble and cribbage, once achieving a perfect 29 hand. She also loved visiting the casinos where she always played five card draw. Olga is survived by her children, Suzanne Horn, Brian Richmond and Kathy (LeRoy) Hansen; grandchildren, Mindy (Duncan) Buchanan and Kathy Drew; sisters, Evelyn Borreson, Carolyn (Chuck) Ness; sisters-in-law, Beverly Allin and Elsie Westenfelder; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Arnold; parents; brothers, Don and Jerry Westenfelder; son-in-law, Bruce Horn; and brothers-in-law, Rev. Willard Allin, Gerald Borreson and Shirl Richmond. Per Olga's wishes, there will be no service. A private memorial will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Arrangements by The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI 49444.
